Sebastopol Walks to Santa Rosa February 27

The public is invited to join Sebastopol Walks  for a third year of walks in and about Sebastopol. Come and discover a Sebastopol that you may not know, get some exercise, and leave your car behind.

Meet at the town plaza at 10 a.m. and we'll walk 7.5 miles on the Joe Rodota Trail to Santa Rosa's Railroad Square. After lunch, shopping and exploring downtown Santa Rosa, We'll catch the 2:40 bus back to Sebastopol (fare: $1.80, $.85 seniors). There will be time to catch thrift stores and antique shops in Railroad Square, walk to the Luther Burbank home, or walk along the Prince Memorial Greenway creek trail.

The walks are based on the book "Sebastopol Walks", and can be purchased on the walk, at City Hall or the Chamber of Commerce for $3.00.

The Grand Tour Walkabout

Stick with your New Year’s Resolutions and exercise! Everyone is invited to walk The Grand Tour Walkabout,which starts at the Downtown Plaza and circles the town of Sebastopol past historic buildings, through charming neighborhoods and along public trails. Craig Litwin, former Mayor of Sebastopol, will lead the 6-mile Walkabout and return to the plaza around noon. Geoffrey Skinner, Sebastopol’s iWALK contact will lead the longer, 11-mile Walkabout and return to the plaza around 1:15 p.m. The 11-mile route adds the trails within Laguna Park, Ragle Ranch Park, Burbank’s Gold Ridge Farm, and The Laguna Uplands.

Meet at the town plaza at 9 a.m. Wear comfortable shoes, and bring a hat, water, sunscreen and snack or lunch. Walkers may leave the group at any time after notifying the walk leader. Rain cancels.

This is the first of a series of free walks planned for 2010. In it’s third year, Sebastopol Walks are usually scheduled for the last Saturday of the month and are lead by volunteers from the community. In February, the 7.5-mile walk to Railroad Square returns to the Plaza via Sonoma County Transit.
